Galatona Petrolo 2020 is produced in Vald'Arno di Sopra in the province of Arezzo. The ancient tower and baptismal font by Giovanni della Robbia remain as evidence of its medieval origins. The winery's philosophy is equally rooted in tradition. Based on these principles, the winery today implements a meticulous grape selection process and maintains low vineyard productivity to ensure the health of the vines and bunches. The vineyards for Galatona di Petrolo 2020 were planted in the late 1980s. The soil is ideal for lush growth: clay, alberese, and sandstone combine to ensure structure, elegance, and balance. The cultivation regime is organic, and human intervention in the vineyard is kept to a minimum. The use of synthetic chemicals and pesticides is prohibited, in favor of complete grassing. Harvesting is carried out manually in crates, and the best grapes are selected on a sorting table. In the cellar, alcoholic fermentation takes place thanks to the action of indigenous yeasts in concrete tanks; frequent and gentle pumping over and a long maceration follow. It ages in French barriques for 18-20 months with constant batonnage for the first 6 months.
