Mezcal del Maguey Tobala is one of the most prized spirits from the Maguey region. It takes its name from the agave or maguey variety that grows wild only at high altitudes in the canyons of the states of Oaxaca and Puebla, in the shade of majestic oak trees. 'Del Maguey' is a line of mezcals produced in very limited quantities and following traditional production methods dating back to the 16th century. Fermentation occurs spontaneously in wooden vats, followed by a slow, double distillation in copper or clay pot stills fueled by a wood fire. Mezcal del Maguey Tobala is recognized as one of the finest mezcals in existence.
