Fifty Pounds Gin is made from neutral grain spirit, distilled four times; the eleven botanicals are steeped in this base for two days, after which it is distilled a fifth time in an old John Doore still (traditionally known in London as 'the Rolls Royce of stills'). After the fifth distillation, the liquid rests for at least three weeks before bottling to allow the ingredients to blend perfectly.

Fifty Pounds Gin takes its name from the days when London distillers were required to pay a tax of 50 pounds (fifty pounds). The producing company, Thames Distillers, is a small distillery in south-east London, in business for over two centuries and owned by a family with long-standing production traditions; Master Distiller Charles Maxwell is the President of the British Distillers' Association. Fifty Pounds London Dry Gin is made from neutral grain spirit, distilled four times; the eleven botanicals are immersed in this base for two days, after which the mixture is distilled a fifth time in an old John Doore still (traditionally known in London as the 'Rolls Royce of stills'). After the fifth distillation, the liquid is left to rest for at least three weeks before bottling to allow the ingredients to blend perfectly.
