The story of Barcelo Imperial Rum began in 1929 when the young Majorcan Julián Barceló set out for the Dominican Republic to create his own spirit. He toured the island in his old van, promoting his rum. Word quickly spread, and in 1930, Barcelo & Co. was founded, a cornerstone of the Dominican economy today. Barceló Imperial Rum represents the finest reserve of this celebrated Dominican rum. Produced in a total of approximately 9,000 bottles annually, it has been named the best rum in the world by the Beverage Institute of Chicago.
